Your scripts and recordings
Scripts, drafts, version history, settings, and recordings are stored on your device. OtterPrompt does not operate a server that receives your scripts, audio, video, or usage activity. No advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDK is included. No OtterPrompt account is required.
Connecting your devices
When you choose a nearby Prompter and approve its Controller, the devices exchange script content, the Prompter preview, playback state, and commands over an encrypted local connection. Device names and connection identifiers are used to discover and remember approved devices. The Watch communicates with its paired iPhone, which can relay commands to a connected Prompter. Saved trust information and private connection keys remain on the device. You can forget approved devices in Controllers & pairing.
Optional cloud storage and sharing
If you enable iCloud or select a shared folder in Files, your scripts are stored with that provider and synced to devices with access to that folder. Apple or the chosen provider handles that storage under its own terms and privacy policy. OtterSports does not receive a copy. Exports and sharing go to the destinations you choose. Anyone with access to a shared folder or exported file may read its contents.
Camera, microphone, and Photos
Camera access is used only when you scan a connection code or record a take. Microphone access is used for recording and voice following. Recordings stay on your device until you choose to export, share, or save them to Photos. Photos access is requested to add recordings you choose to save.
Speech and writing
Voice follow requires supported on-device speech recognition. Caption creation asks separately before using Apple Speech recognition. When on-device recognition is unavailable, audio may be sent to Apple for processing under Apple's speech-recognition terms. The optional writing assistant uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models on supported devices; OtterPrompt does not send scripts to an external AI service.
Retention and deletion
You control local scripts and recordings. Deleting a script moves it to Recently Deleted; you can restore it or permanently delete it there. Drafts and saved versions remain available through Drafts & recovery and Version history. Deleting a recording removes that local movie; exported copies and caption files may remain in Files, Photos, shared folders, backups, or destinations you chose. Delete those copies separately. Disabling sync does not remove files already stored with your provider. Device backups are controlled by your system and cloud settings.
Support and purchases
If you email us, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you send and use them to respond to your request. Please avoid sending confidential scripts or recordings unless needed for support. We retain support correspondence as needed to resolve requests and meet applicable obligations; you may ask us to delete it. Apple processes App Store purchases. OtterPrompt does not receive your payment-card details.
Your choices
You can change camera, microphone, speech, and local-network permissions in system Settings, stop cloud sync in Script storage, and remove approved Controllers. Core script editing and manual prompting work without an OtterPrompt account. Requests about personal information sent directly to us can be made at hello@ottersports.app.
Policy updates
We may update this policy when features or data practices change. The effective date identifies this version. The policy is available inside OtterPrompt under Setup → Privacy policy.

The policy above describes the OtterPrompt app. This OtterSports website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand website visits. Website analytics are separate from OtterPrompt; the app does not include an analytics SDK. Learn more about Vercel Web Analytics and privacy.
